I'm Rachel Ballard and I believe photography should be flattering and effortless in front of my lens!
I'm passionate about making my clients feel seen, loved, and well taken care of when working with me. I photograph weddings for joy-filled couples who value connection, beautiful details, and an elevated experience that still feels warm, relaxed, and authentic.

You’re officially an RDP Couple - yay!! Do you picture your wedding feeling soft and romantic, or bold, energetic, and full of candid moments? Maybe a little of both? I love hearing about my clients' dream wedding so I can tell the story of their celebration as they've intentionally planned. If you’re working with a wedding planner, I’m happy to collaborate directly with them so I can show up fully prepared to serve you, celebrate you, and capture this wildly exciting season!

Engagement sessions aren’t for everyone and that’s completely okay ! After over 10 years of photographing happy couples, I’ve learned that while some love an engagement session, others walk away feeling like they paid for something that didn’t truly serve them. I never want that for my couples, which is why I don’t automatically force an engagement session into every collection. Instead, I offer engagement sessions to make your wedding collection tailored to your photography experience.

You can also expect me to check-in about two months before the wedding to start talking about timeline specifics, special details, family formal shot lists, special traditions and anything else I should know about your big day. Some couples wish to discuss these details sooner, and my inbox is always open!

It's finally here! On your wedding day, I’m equal parts calm presence and confident guide. I’ll be right there bringing steady, calming energy, while also stepping in with clear direction to keep things flowing smoothly. I know when to gently take control, keep us on track, and make sure we capture all the big moments without it ever feeling rushed. You get to stay present, soak it in, and trust that your photos are being handled with care and intention.

You can expect your photos to be delivered via a private online gallery between six and eight weeks of your wedding date. At that time, I'll also send over details about preserving your images through prints and albums. I hope the relationship doesn't end after I deliver your final gallery of images! I want to hear about the adventures of married life - and I often continue photographing my wedding clients years after the wedding for their biggest milestones - I'd be honored to do the same for you!

Everything you need to know about engagement sessions
WARDROBE styling make the PHOTOS
You won’t find a one-size-fits-all engagement session forced into every collection — and that’s very intentional. Over the years, I’ve learned that not every couple needs an engagement session, and I never want you to feel pressure to “use it or lose it.” My collections are designed to feel highly custom, just like your wedding!
If you do decide an engagement session is right for you, you’ll receive 50% off simply for being an RDP couple. Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered every step of the way, from outfit planning and location ideas to exactly how to pose. These sessions also allow you to practice poses in a low-pressure way before the big day. I book sessions at least two-four weeks in advance (just in case you're planning to use them for Save-the-Dates) but there is never a "right" or "wrong" time for your engagement photos!

QUESTIONS
When will we receive our photos?
Within 48 hours of your engagement session or wedding, you'll receive a link to your preview gallery for viewing and sharing! It takes three weeks to get your full engagement session back and six-eight weeks for full wedding galleries.
The gallery is also set up to make ordering prints, canvases and other keepsakes super easy! No worrying about tricky things like color correction, DPI and image format and you can do it all from your gallery. Don't worry, you also get printing rights with your images so you can print anywhere you wish!
When do you charge travel fees?
I typically add travel fees on to any wedding farther than two hours from my coverage area (Lexington). It's normally a fee of $100 and will can apply to engagement sessions depending on the location you choose and your collection.
How many photos are typically included and can we print the photos ourselves?
Wedding galleries typically include anywhere between 600 and 1200 photos. The exact amount varies from wedding to wedding so I can't give an exact amount but you can expect all the best images from the day. Your online gallery will come loaded with fully edited high resolution images you can print anywhere. You’re also welcome to share your wedding photos on social media (I love it when my couples tag me!).
We love your work and want to book. What's the next step?
Fabulous! To reserve your wedding date, I’ll need a completed contract and a $1,000 non-refundable retainer. If you let me know which package you'd like I can send over personal booking link that will walk you through the booking process. The remaining balance will be due 1 week before the wedding but you may make payments anytime.
